Ethics
An Expressive Arts Facilitator, such as the service I provide, may lead to a therapeutic experience, however, we are not therapists. Non-therapy work means working with the general public in a way that may be healing but isn't "deep therapy" nor is it diagnosing, assessing, prescribing. Again, that's the work of a trained therapist.
To clarify, Art Therapy is defined by the AATA as a mental health profession that uses the creative process of art making to improve and enhance the physical, mental and emotional well-being of individuals of all ages. It is based on the belief that the creative process involved in artistic self-expression helps people to resolve conflicts and problems, develop interpersonal skills, manage behavior (self-regulation), reduce stress, increase self-esteem and self-awareness, and achieve insight.

The type of arts programs offered here are based on the Power of Hope learning programs model or creative community model. Our programs are not Art therapy. We will be happy to refer you to licensed practitioners should the need be felt.
Carina Costom Arts-Based Facilitation is not an Art Therapy provider, as a result I do not carry professional liability insurance.

Additional ethical considerations
Though I am not a member of the International Association of Facilitators (IAF) at this time, their statement of value and code of ethics contain guidelines which I regularly take into consideration in my practice.
